What's NEW at Labor of Love:
updated October 4, 2010
Fall 2010 is here!
Aaarrrggg!!!!!
I guess that got your attention!  Many of you who came into the
shop stopped and admired my really fun bag by Nicky Epstein.  I have
always been a big fan of Nicky's over-the-top designs, mainly because I,
myself, have been accused of being a bit over-the-top (don't say it to all
those who know me!)  Well, I finished it.  I read the instructions and
followed them to a tee in every respect, and you guessed it:  YIKES!!!!
Not what I expected!
Shirley and I stretched it and shaped it to fit the measurements.  We
trimmed and tacked until it resembled the pictured project, and still I
had the feeling that I didn't "conquer" it.  I don't even feel like I can
start another project because I haven't improved on all of the  probably
very helpful but, unwritten, subtleties.  The point of all this ranting?
Well, I do feel better ranting, but really it is to show you that we
(so-called knitting experts) don't always succeed with every project.
You can count on us to give it a try though.  Fearless Knitting Rocks!
On more cheerful and inspiring note, we have finished quite a few
absolutely gorgeous garments.  Shirley made a Fair Isle capelet and tam
in Rialto that is amazing and cute as the dickens, a "bewitching" hooded
scarf, she finished the mouse from our Pheobe's Sweater kit, along with
several scarves, (oh yes, she is prolific).  Brandy -- welcome, by the
way, to our newest employee! -- used Chesapeake by Classic Elite to
fashion an adorable striped sweater for your newest grandchild.  I have
been busying myself with improving knitting bags.  I have three
finished and they are a big hit. The big splash of the week and likely
the year is Monica Santii's Great American Afghan.  All we can say is
WOW!!
We are always working on something inspiring so come on in and
check it out!

It is officially Fall. Yeah!!!!   I love fall so much that I actually
used the fireplace recently.  I bought my first apples of the
season , and I am considering which leaf blower to buy. Best of
all, I can feel a certain lightness of spirit in the returning
customers that feels like hope on the horizon.
My fall knitting project is ready to be cast on needles. It's a
teal blue cable vest that has an unusual construction.   The yarn
is worsted weight wool and boy, does it feel fine in my hands.
There is something about a growing cable that just is so
satisfying.  Never tried cables? Come take a class with us and
you can share in the satisfaction too!  If cables aren't your
thing, how about an entrelac shawl or a lace sweater.  Maybe
Fair Isle, sock knitting, or mittens would be the ticket.  If you are
a multitasker, you could learn something new and give it for a
holiday gift.
Whatever your choice is you really need to join us and stop
missing all the fun!  Don't forget that our classes are only $50
for six-two hour classes!  It's a real bargain when you consider
the high price of a movie ticket, dinner, or other things that you
may do with your time.  Start your classes anytime and get
ready to have a ball!

If you are familiar with the Debbie Macomber
Blossom Street book series, you will love her new
yarn line.  Lots of great colors , textures, and
pattern support, and best of all, Debbie is donating
all profits to children's charities.

We are carrying a supersoft sock yarn called
Petals, a light worsted with a twist of color called
Wild Meadow, and a 100% wool worsed that makes
a fair isle pattern called Gerbera Print.  There are
3 available pattern books with really cute things
for you to knit!
